Alberta Immigration issues invitations with 300 CRS

Latest Alberta Express Entry PNP Draw

Alberta Immigration has sent 136 invitations Express Entry candidates in latest draw held on 18th March 2020 to apply for a provincial nomination of Alberta.

Candidates of Express Entry with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores as low as 300 were given NOIs during this Alberta Immigration invitations draw.

The CRS ranks eligible candidates for immigration to Canada through Express Entry under the following components:

  • core human capital factors;
  • accompanying spouse or common-law factors;
  • skill transferability factors; and
  • factors relating to a provincial nomination, a qualifying offer of arranged employment, Canadian study experience, a sibling in Canada, and/or French language ability.

This Canadian Immigration points scoring system is the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) and a candidate’s total points are known as their CRS score.

Alberta does not provide a list of eligible occupations for issuing the invitations.

This Alberta Express Entry stream of invitations draw is a part of Provincial Nomination Program (PNP) and doesn’t require job offer from any Alberta Employer.

AINP says it may give priority to candidates who meet the following three criteria:

  • a job offer and/or work experience in Alberta;
  • a degree from a Canadian post-secondary institution and a valid job offer; or
  • a parent, child or sibling already living in the province.

Express Entry manages applications for three of Canada’s main economic class immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program and Canadian Experience Class.

Express Entry candidates require to get nomination from Alberta after applying upon the invitation, and if they secure the nomination then they receive an additional 600 points toward their CRS score and are effectively guaranteed an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence in a subsequent draw from the Express Entry pool.

In 2020, Alberta issued 887 invitations to Express Entry candidates so far, while in 2019, Alberta issued a total of 11,137 invitations through the Alberta Express Entry Stream. It has become an effective program for overseas candidates.
